Southern Electric Company is an Alpharetta, Georgia-based company whose mission is to deliver high quality services in the field of electrical installation and design. The company’s focus is on commercial, institutional, and industrial construction, with design-build capabilities. SEC is a Women Owned Business and is certified by the City of Atlanta as a Female American Business Enterprise.

SEC was founded in 1997 by Jalil Poorak. After immigrating to the United States from Iran, Mr. Poorak attended Southern Polytechnic State University and graduated in 1983 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. For over twenty years, Mr. Poorak worked daily to ensure the growth and success of SEC.
Following his passing in 2018, his wife, Sima Poorak, took ownership of the company and serves as Chief Executive Officer. His oldest daughter, Mahsa Poorak, works for the company as both an attorney and Chief Operating Officer, while his second daughter, Parisa Poorak, works as Corporate Secretary. The Poorak family strives to maintain Mr. Poorak’s legacy and the reputation and success of SEC.
